My Old Match.Com Ad

For a few years, I ran an ad on match.com. As it turned out, I had it turned off more than I had it on. Actually, it was overwhelming the responses I received however, it would take your own personal assistant and team of employees to decipher out a few good ones. I probably missed the man of my dreams, however I would select a few to write and end up meeting a guy here and there occasionally then I would give up on it. After a couple months or so, my ad was activated again until finally, I did not renew my last annual spring special. It turned into a job in a sense, screening out people that lied about their looks, their situations, or had too much baggage or something stupid like a Velcro Hair piece – that he just had to show me at the bar-publicly! (smiling) Usually it never went past a few emails, because I have always been so damn picky and selective. I will get to my point after my ad that has been revised with a few words once in awhile but always basically said the same. My motto was always “I would never just SETTLE”!! Note I was fortunate though, most everyone I met was a nice gentleman probably because I screened them with a microscope. For some unknown reason each, one would have something I did not like, that I called red flags! (Ding 1, Ding 2 Ding 3 your out) This was going on in my mind the whole time.

Special and Upscale being Selective!
Hi, I am a sensuous romantic that loves adventure and surprises. Being an ex-model from my twenties, I would describe myself as someone who takes pride in my appearance, intelligent, open minded and spiritual. I love being with positive, upbeat friends that enjoy laughing and having fun. Traveling is a passion, I love Europe and South America for pleasure and my former business included Italy several times a year. The others would be exploring warm places, experiencing new things outside of the rim of ordinary, and of course the pleasures of life involving water activities,
billfishing, sports (Auburn Tiger fan & SEC),tennis, fine wines, flying, gardening, and horseback riding. I am open to trying new activities that someone else may enjoy as well. I feel comfortable in jeans as well as dressing for a special event. I am independent, but not to the degree where I wish to be alone in my future without sharing precious moments with someone special. I am very selective and a bit old fashion, I believe men should be a gentleman, respectful, and adore women.

I am in search of a distinguishing, educated, professional, romantic financially secure gentleman. Self-confidence is important but he must be gentle and patient. I desire a man to move a mountain if he knows what he wants and is willing to get it. I prefer a man that is of faith a Christian or Jewish. He can relate to life to its fullest. I truly
desire to meet someone that will be the last man but the number one special man
for me. Hoping to have a LTR and possible marriage for my future with the right
man.

It has been way over a year or so since I have had a desire to run an online ad or get out and try to meet someone. As mentioned in one of my Previous Post my last engagement I broke it off and my reasons are stated there. My heart just hasn’t been in it, being sick now more than in the past and other things in my life that has occurred. Giving up on the idea of ever meeting someone that I have dreamed or searched for as another soul mate has been disappointing, but much of it is my own fault and I have allowed many years to pass. I probably missed him lost within all the emails I never got a chance to answer, who knows? (smiling) Perhaps I had been accustom to higher standards, different lifestyles, or my expectations were set too high, I can’t answer these question because I do not know the answer to this either. Nevertheless, I am alone, not lonely, but I wish for a happy loving relationship with someone hopefully that has children that have children and it would be one great big family of joy of all ages. I have always desired men that are older or even much older for many reasons. I am ready to enjoy life and not have to start over helping raise a young family. (that energy is not there any longer unfortunately) I love children all of you know that, but I want grandchildren where I am able to spend the time spoiling instead of having the responsibility of full time. I have found also that someone older seems to respect and appreciate a woman more than someone younger in my experiences. In addition, he is reaching retirement age and we could truly enjoy things at our own pace and be free to do as we wish even to relaxing in life.

On the contrary, now I would like to meet a companion that we share some commonalities, compatible, and would be happy with more things being less complicated. Perhaps I have changed some, or matured with looking at life differently with some type of transition in me? I am going to leave this with my friends and readers, hopefully some new people that may want to join in and give me your honest opinion on advice, ideas, comments, or whatever you may want to add.

I am going to be gone for a few days, so I am leaving this to you guys to say kind things or tear me apart. (smiling) Hoping it is not the latter! But I am interested in your thoughts about myself that is getting to a point in life that I do not want to spend what precious time I have left being by myself.

When I get back maybe I can share some of the funniest dates I have had, will be scanning my brain for a few! Repeat visits with new comments are welcome. (smiling) Have a good week!

My Un-Planned Night Out

Following the Make-OVER at the Beauty Salon (prior post)

After a quick thought and a spontaneous decision, I went to work with my daughter tonight. She works part-time at a microbrewery restaurant and bar. The tips are great and the hours are few, so that allows her more time for college and other things. I did not have any moments to change from my casual clothes from earlier, already had my Dolce & Gabbana jeans on with a nice mid sleeve cotton Liz top, some medium heels and a moment to touch up on my make-up before 5 p.m. Thank Goodness I had some energy today and they are treasured.

After arriving two men sat at the oblong round bar, so I glanced at the one that would probably chat and I would enjoy conversing with so I took the chair with one between us, he turned out to be quite a character and charming too. Just my luck though, he starts talking politics, and for Pete Sake he seems to be a far leftie OMG! My first encounter in a long time where I had no pauses to interrupt but having to bite my tongue and smile at the same time, however he kept telling me “just let him finish and I could voice my opinions”. I did not get many in, how unusual for me as I drank a couple drinks and listened with invisible eyes rolling also trying to memorize point after point I could debate, finally the memory gave up. (BTW, it never did happen, as I would have wished but what the hell) I was having fun anyway! After a couple of hours, we seemed like old friends regardless of his opinions I should say. He had a super positive confident personality that did not take offense that I felt differently on many things he was spouting and not all was factual either. We were able to laugh and he seemed quite smitten by me and had been giving me compliments about my intelligences, looks, My Hair etc.!! (KOOL on the hair) By then I was feeling fairly relaxed, okay with my surroundings and enjoying his company. It helped knowing from others that work there that he frequently came in for drinks once or twice a week, a regular and local. As we continued to talk, he apparently was very influential and prominent in the community or I should say in our country. (The Heinz’s best friend)

Dinner entered the conversation by him, and I had planned on that already along with having a few drinks returning home and going back to pick up my daughter when she got off. He suggested us go to another restaurant for a Lebanese dinner with a finer wine selection, but I protested the fact it would have to be somewhere jeans would be appropriate. Since everyone that worked there seemed to know him, they gave the nod that I would be safe. So, I said “Sure why not”! I had my best sense of humor tonight that I had thought I lost, but it was sharper than my razor.

I never felt scared at all, actually just the opposite. After having difficulties finding my reading glasses, I said just order for me whatever you wish for me to taste. Note: I love everything so I knew that whatever he was ordering in Arabic (I think) that I would totally enjoy. He ordered a good year of Fr. Chateau Grand Plantes – I think - without me being able to see well. (Flash in my brain BOYCOTT oh well-again) Bordeaux was my favorite forever! The meals were outstanding; he ordered a variety of many different dishes and fed me as well from stuffed grape leaves, chicken, steak, (names I cannot remember right now that are their specialties in appetizers). In between courses, we had Arabic coffees served to his special instructions as well as each dish to having a special desert. (can’t remember the name of that either, but it was good and I am not a sweet eater) I could not have asked for a nicer gentleman to have dinner with! We had a little walk outside the restaurant, it reminded me of all my times in Italy as a ritual and then we returned to where my daughter works about 10:30. He was very interested in getting to know me and wanting to contact me for future plans, I finally gave in to my number but stated do not call me until October. (smiling) Also with a p.s. Please leave a message and it may take leaving a couple but I will call you back eventually, I’m just not good with phones. (smiling) He seemed to be okay with that, I guess. We will see!
Overall, I am glad that I had my hair done, pushed myself out the door, had an urge to go out and rediscovered my old dry sense of humor. I hope that for a while I can start posting things of interest instead of my down feelings of the world on my shoulders. I did have a good time and am happy I went tonight even though it is in the wee hours now and this will show tomorrow’s date. Any comments?? Or suggestions should I say?

A Make-over Day

So far I have been having a very good day, perhaps my inspirational time yesterday helped. (smiling) Called this a.m. to get a hair appt lo and behold an instant yes came faster than I was ready for. So with some panic and then excitement, I was able to get dressed and looked nice btw (for a change out of my gown) then volunteered to drive myself instead of my daughter always taking me as usual. It was scary like always getting outside the door, but with keys in hand, I knew I did not have to go very far.

Louis, my favorite Italian gorgeous compassionate personable sweetest person in the world type of friend that does my hair, he welcomed me with open arms. He pampered me with love as well as treating me like a queen. I love him for that like always!! I got highlights, fresh color and a new Do!! He suggested I go out tonight on the town, he said the men will be drooling; he is such a good fibber! (LOL) So I am thinking seriously about it..hummm!! Perhaps a couple of drinks would do me good outside the house…..who knows what trouble I could find out alone? I going to try to bring back my sense of humor and climb back on my horse as Lady Godiva. Ride Caption Ride!!

Hopefully I will have a good update later, thanks friends for hanging in here with me on my downer days lately, I am working on it is all I can say besides I love you guys!! (smiling)

UPDATE: On the Hair Deal!
My hair is an extreme change for me, never have I had it above my shoulders. Over the last few years, little by little it has made it to just below there. Hey Sister, do not get alarmed it is not near the ears (smiling) but it is shorter than ever in my life. My family knows it has always been long and to my waist for most of my life. For ones that have seen my picture knows that my true color is jet black, I learned from one of my best friends (beautician from home) that with age you need to light it up some for a younger look in conjunction with your skin tone. For some reason early gray has been hereditary from my Mom, so at 35 I started for the first time having to get my hair colored, before that no chemicals. Since moving to FL, always wanted it just a bit lighter every time I visited the salon, well highlights and the color started getting lighter and lighter. No it is not blonde, but it is has a mixture of light browns and dark blonde tints to best describe it. Feeling a little weird, caused a bit of insecurity but been assured that it looks great by ones I trust. Louis told me the cut is between a Palm Beach look with Kirsten (spiderman3) cut recently in a People magazine ‘whoever’ with a longer version.
Okay the juicy stuff is on its way for my night of adventure! Never would have imagined what was in store for me!! (smiling)

Me, Mind and Heart

Memo to myself and hopefully some part of me will listen.

Mind: Stop watching the NEWS
Suzie: I have to know what is happening Live
Mind: Earlier today with my daughter watching “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” was fun
Suzie: That was funny and I loved laughing out loud with her
Mind: I wish I could get out of bed longer, do something outside in the sunshine, or perhaps cook dinner
Suzie: I can’t move, everything hurts
Mind: You are right, your body does not feel it can move nor have energy for anything today
Suzie: I feel uplifted I watched Joel this morning and spiritually I know I can face anything
Mind: Yes, you are the victor instead of a victim
Suzie: Now, I am reminded of the victims again
Mind: At this moment there are 100’s of stranded people in the swamp water in LA needing rescuing

Heart: I’m breaking in tiny pieces, the feelings of so many people losing everything, my family with real things happening that are not good, friends that have lost loved ones recently, people that we know are suffering with issues of their past and present, ones that have family members dying, ones that are sick, families that have necessities that are barely making it, the feelings are overwhelming. People that are secretly suffering, hungry, no home, no job, no money, lost, this list goes on.

Mind: Please do not start crying again
Mind: We should all be so thankful and appreciative of so many things in our life. Love and help everyway we can.
Suzie: I want to smile and shine who I really am, but right now it is so difficult
Mind: Try reading blogs, writing about your fun times in life, adventures, your online dating experiences, funny and embarrassing moments, call about your family, play with Bella, do anything that brings joy. Channel me to happy thoughts!
Suzie: I have no energy and I find that difficult right now
Mind: Stop writing this before you look like a baby, because the last thing you want is pity or sympathy
Suzie: Good idea
Mind: Hopefully your friends will understand and see that these disasters lasting for over 3 weeks are taking a toll on you too as well as your heart.
Suzie: I do carry burdens of people, I care, and feel their pain. I wish I could help everyone in need.

I need to go re-fuel hopefully will be back soon. Going back to my bed where I can relax and try to focus. Tomorrow will be better! Have faith, hope and believe - then all should come to past.

Port Arthur, TX

Port Arthur is 90 miles east of Houston in Southeast Texas. The Golden Triangle is adjacent to the Louisiana border, and New Orleans is about 250 miles to the east.
Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce

Port Arthur is located on a coastal plain where elevations range from sea level to 9 feet. The area features both marsh and forest, and timber, water, oil, natural gas and sulfur are among its natural resources.

Total Population:
Port Arthur 55,755
Jefferson County 252,051

Excerpts from City of Port Arthur

Port Arthur has celebrated more than 100 years as a Gulf Coast city, but its timeline is only a fraction of the greater history of the region's inhabitants. The shores of Sabine Lake have been occupied more than 1,500 years; American Indians, primarily the Atakapas, were the earliest known settlers. The late 1700s brought the first visits from Europeans -- English, Spanish and French. Most were explorers who did not stay, but in the 1800s, the lake became an avenue for trade. Among the traders was Jean Laffite, and legends of hidden treasure have lingered in Southeast Texas. The earliest attempt at permanently settling the area was the community of Aurora, located in what is now historic Port Arthur. Some lots were sold around 1840, but the project failed to take off. The area was abandoned by the time Port Arthur was established.

Celebrities from Port Arthur
A number of Port Arthurans have left their impact on the country in the arts, sports, politics and business. Easily the best-recognized internationally is rock legend Janis Joplin, but other names of note include artist Robert Rauschhenberg, Texas Gov. Allen Shivers, Olympic athlete Babe Zaharias, football coach Jimmy Johnson, football player Joe Washington, Jr., "Gone With the Wind" actress Evelyn Keyes and businessman Mack H. Hannah, Jr. These and many others are honored in the Museum of the Gulf Coast.

BTW – They have great crawfish boils and old fashion parties cajun family, friends and strangers all welcome. Once I stopped there for a huge shin-dig party on my way to Austin, TX for an Auburn Tiger football game against the Longhorns, it was very entertaining and fun.
Update: Error I meant for the party at Lake Charles, LA (sorry)

Rita is a Monster

Thursday, September 22, 2005

Texas' Oldest Newspaper: Since 1842

No Way Out:
Many Poor Stuck in Houston

HOUSTON (AP) -- Wilma Skinner would like to scream at the officials of this city. If only someone would pick up their phone.

"I done called for a shelter, I done called for help. There ain't none. No one answers," she said, standing in blistering heat outside a check-cashing store that had just run out of its main commodity. "Everyone just says, 'Get out, get out.' I've got no way of getting out. And now I've got no money."

With Hurricane Rita breathing down Houston's neck, those with cars were stuck in gridlock trying to get out. Those like Skinner - poor, and with a broken-down car - were simply stuck, and fuming at being abandoned, they say.

"All the banks are closed and I just got off work," said Thomas Visor, holding his sweaty paycheck as he, too, tried to get inside the store, where more than 100 people, all of them black or Hispanic, fretted in line. "This is crazy. How are you supposed to evacuate a hurricane if you don't have money? Answer me that?"

Some of those who did have money, and did try to get out, didn't get very far.

Judie Anderson of La Porte, Texas, covered just 45 miles in 12 hours. She had been on the road since 10 p.m. Wednesday, headed toward Oklahoma, which by Thursday was still very far away.

"This is the worst planning I've ever seen," she said. "They say, 'We've learned a lot from Hurricane Katrina.' Well, you couldn't prove it by me."

On Bellaire Boulevard in southwest Houston, a weeping woman and her young daughter stood on the sidewalk, surrounded by plastic bags full of clothes and blankets. "I'd like to go, but nobody come get me," the woman said in broken English. When asked her name, she looked frightened. "No se, no se," she said: Spanish for "I don't know."

Her daughter, who appeared to be about 9, whispered in English, "We're from Mexico."

For the poor and the disenfranchised, the mighty evacuation orders that preceded Rita were something they could only ignore.

Eddie McKinney, 64, who had no home, no teeth and a torn shirt, stood outside the EZ Pawn shop, drinking a beer under a sign that said, "No Loitering."

"We got no other choice but to stay here. We're homeless and we're broke," he said. "I thought about going to Dallas, but now it's too late. I got no way to get there."

Where will he stay?

"A nice white man gave me a motel room for three days. Just walked up and said, 'Here.' So my buddy and me will stick it out," he said, pointing to another homeless man. "We got a half-gallon of whiskey and a room."

In Deer Park, a working-class suburb of refineries south of Houston, Stacy and Troy Curtis, waited for help outside the police station. Less than three weeks ago, the couple left New Orleans after it was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.

With no vehicle, and little money, they tried to get their lives together while staying at a hotel in Deer Park. Stacy Curtis, a nursing assistant in New Orleans, had a job interview scheduled for Thursday.

But most businesses had shut down because the neighborhood will likely flood if the hurricane hits Galveston Bay. The streets were empty Thursday afternoon.

"We're stuck here," Stacy Curtis said. "Got no other place to go."

An emergency official eventually sent a van to take the couple to a shelter at a recreation center.
Monica Holmes, who has debilitating lupus, sat in her car at a Houston gas station that had no gas. "We can't go nowhere," she said, tapping a fingernail against the dashboard fuel gauge. "Look here," she said. "I'm right on E."

Her husband, a security guard, had a paycheck, but no way to cash it.

"We were going to try to go to Nacogdoches" in east Texas, not far from the Louisiana border, she said. "But even if we could get on the road, we're not going to get out. These people that left yesterday, they're still on the beltway. They haven't even got out of Houston."

So she and her husband will hunker down in their Missouri City home, just to the south. "We'll be fine," she said. "You can't be scared of what God can do. I'm covered."

As always, there were those who chose to stay, no matter how dire the warnings.

John Benson, a 47-year-old surfer and lifelong Galveston resident, said he thinks his town "is going to take on a lot of water. But as far as the winds, I think here on the island, it will be a little bit less than they anticipated."

Mandatory evacuation orders were issued Wednesday for the area.
Benson said he planned to use his surfboard as transportation after the hurricane. "The main thing is you have a contingency plan," he said, and thumped his board. "You got buoyancy."

Skinner, accompanied by her 6-year-old grandson, Dageneral Bellard, would settle for a bus.

"They got them for the outlying areas, for the Gulf and Galveston, but they ain't made no preparations for us in the city, for the poor people here. There ain't no (evacuation) buses here. I got nowhere to go."

Senator Kennedy to assist in disaster! Thanks P. as always for your funny jokes, pictures and help for me on days I have difficulties writing! P.S. Maybe they will drop Ted Kennedy in the Gulf of Mexico!! It would be blessing for some of us!

Still laughing about Bill O'Reily's joking remark about wishing Hurricane Katrina would have only hit the United Nations (U.N.) Building!! (LOL)

N.Y. Times is now comparing his monitored and taped Radio Talk Show remark maded in jest to Pat Robertson and his statement about calling for an assassination of Chavez of Venezuela! Demanding a retraction! I find this to be ridicuious!

What Sam and I Share

Tonight I read a very touching heartfelt post that hit directly home with me from a very special new friend, Sam about something her and I know and endure way too well. We share something that so very few people neither understand nor know much about, even though for over 2 decades some Rheumatologist have been educated and diagnosis ones with it. Only in the last 5-7 yrs it has been acknowledged more and brought to the forefront of being a disability. Now many recognize the name but really do not understand the symptoms. Sam said I inspired her and thanked me that was so very sweet and I am touched beyond words. Honestly though nowadays I do not feel that I have neither strength nor energy to do much for anyone I so much appreciate it though because I know it came from her heart. What she also said made me feel not so alone. I treasure those moments of feeling good, as I know she does too, if you know what we mean, those days are far and in between.

Today was one of those days she beautifully articulated in words that I would never be able to express as she did from her soul when life is not so good. I recommend if you are interested please go and click the above link and comment on what courage it took for her to open up and share with her friends about something very personal. I have suffered with this for over 10 years and now they call mine Secondary since a car accident in 1997. Sam did not add several more symptoms probably because they are too many to list. Some as simple as dry eyes but to another extreme of severities include arthritis that can get debilitating, lupus, as well as fatigue to where days you can not get up to do one single thing along with the chronic pain all over your body. As she also stated, you can have a good day with seeming normal that is what unknowledgeable people seem to get confused or disbelieving about. They sometimes perceive it as laziness and not real, they are so wrong. It took years to educate my family and dear friends about this, and now they seem to understand more. If you type the word in Google you will receive 4,160,000 + websites. Fibromyalgia has no cure.

I confessed too of a few of my private personal battles in a previous post lately but at other times here and there, bits and pieces. I have not yet commented on her site, but I have read her beautifully written thoughts, feelings and challenges, as I understand it completely.

Sam, I will be there to comment on your honesty and compassion as well as thanking you for informing others what it is truly like to have FMS. I just hope for the ones that do go there will try to understand especially if you know someone that suffers with this, that you may feel differently and try to understand with a more open mind. People like us that suffer with this truly do appreciate it.

Month of Movies Free

Hi to all! As you, people know I am a News Junkie; however, I do enjoy watching movies too. As previously mentioned in a few of my recent posts I stated how we all have a life! (LOL) Well to be honest here not much of one, (smiling) however Netflix is offering my family and friends a free month trial.

I signed up with them in June and received two free weeks, and they honored that plan. It is wonderful, they have all the same movies as Blockbuster to select from online and you select all the movies you want with adding them in a Queue. One click away to selecting new releases, classics, etc. (with extended info on each one) to have them delivered to your front door the next day. No Joke! Save fuel, time, parking and no more standing in line, etc. This service is awesome if you have internet and enjoy watching movies. They email you with alerts of your movie being shipped, received and the same day an email that your next one is on the way. Sweet Deal! No, I do not work for Netflix, but my family has surely enjoyed this service and I recommend it highly. They are offering me to give family and friends a FREE MONTH, if you are interested I have to email you from their promotion letter that is in my inbox and this offer ends September 28. I meant to post this info before now but I am procrastinator, as ones probably know by now. (smiling)

Over 50,000 movies – Includes New Releases, Classics, Netflix top 100, etc. etc.
Free and Fast Delivery (NEXT DAY for me-they have shipping centers throughout the country for this reason)
No Late Fees – Keep your DVD as long as you want
Pre-paid Envelopes for return, then they send you the next movie (same day they receive your last one)

The plan I selected was 1 at-a-time (unlimited) and it is set up with my Visa or bank for deduction with taxes included total amount is $10.59 a month. Depending how many you watch in a month, the more savings occurs plus even if you get 4 + it is still cheaper than Blockbuster, anyway you look at it. I remember one month we got about 8 movies, we watched them and returned them the next day by dropping it in the mailbox. Lo and behold the following day a new movie. All that we have received were selected by each one of us together as a family and your list can be altered to move a movie up or down in the list or queue. Month-to-month subscription cancelable at anytime!

If you are interested then let me know- also I have many of your email addresses if you state yes (just comment-without stating private info) and for others that are - send me your email address for me to submit it. I do not think I benefit from this, it is just an offer for others because I have already taken their special when I signed up. If you have this plan already and want to comment good or bad, all is welcome.

Jokes thanks to Mag and NJ

Two guys, Jimmy and Johnny, stand at heaven's gate, waiting to be interviewed by Saint Peter.

Jimmy: "How did you get here?"

Johnny: "Hypothermia. You?"

Jimmy: "You won't believe it. I thought my wife was cheating on me, so I came home early one day, hoping to catch the guy. I accused her of being unfaithful and searched the entire house without any luck. Then, I felt so horrible about the whole thing that I had a massive heart attack."

Johnny: "Oh, man. If you'd only checked the walk-in freezer, we'd both be alive."

As told by Maggie Grace in Esquire Magazine.

Warning: Adult Humor! Beware!

A guy is in line at the supermarket when he notices that the rather dishy blonde behind him has just raised her hand and smiled hello to him. He is rather taken aback that such a looker would be waving to him, and although familiar he can't place where he might know her from, so he says, "Sorry, do you know me?"She replies, "I may be mistaken, but I think you might be the father of one of my children!"His mind shoots back to the one and only time he has been unfaithful, "No kidding?" he says. "Are you that stripper from my bachelor party that I screwed on the pool table in front of all my buddies while your girlfriend whipped me with some wet celery and jammed a cucumber up my ass?!""Um, no", she replied coldly, "I'm your son's English teacher".....
Thanks NJ N NJ (LOL)

Remembrance of 9/11

Today as the world knows is very emotional for so many people around our globe. The innocent people that perished that day were from all corners of our existence. I want to start by saying our thoughts are with each and every victim and their families that this took a loved one(s) from you. Secondly, to all that witnessed and was personally affected from this awful terror attack on our nation you are remembered as well. I am also speaking directly to a few friends I have here on our blog world.

We all seem to reflect on where we were on that terrible horrific day that our country changed forever thereafter. Late last night I read a few blogs stating this exact thing and I know a few that live there that are suffering right now, all that were in eye distance too. I am thinking about you today.

I was a long way away from the U.S.A. that day. In the late afternoon in my hotel room outside of Venice, Italy, I was taking a nap after a grueling long trip and knowing we would be flying home the following day. After my business-partner and our friend, Pino entered my room to wake me by turning on CNN International we watched in total horror as the second plane accelerated in the towers. Without going into much background with my business, we traveled to Italy for approximately 10 days every 2-3 months to buy our wholesale merchandise all except for the month of Aug. That month was always special, because we went the last week for vacation at Jesolo Beach and then started our work on Sept 1st when all the businesses/warehouses/factories would re-open after Italy takes the whole month of Aug off, the whole country for holiday mainly at the beach. I kid you not, they literally close down and only the beach resorts are people working during that month.

After hours of watching, trying to think and regain our composure we knew we had to get home a.s.a.p. Vittorio and Pino lives in Canada but both are from Italy – Vittorio is from Conegliano near Venice and Pino from Sicily, they were wonderful with resources and connections to help us with whatever we needed, especially with a Gambino in the bunch. We all knew once we left Venice, we were all on our own. I was going to Paris, Vittorio to Frankfurt and Pino to Brussels for our layovers.

My family started calling and many calls were made that continued for days. My prior injuries to my neck and back increased to excruciating as stress built up along with the panic of knowing I was going to have to get on a plane to get home. We visited the airport daily, but no matter what excuse we gave they would not let us fly out for several days, then finally they made an exception and told us that we may be stranded in our next destination. From Venice to Paris I was somewhat calm, but arriving there total chaos was going on in the terminal. People were everywhere, ones that had been sleeping on the floor, long lines and loud announcements. I hurried to get on a list to be selected to get out of there and board a plane for Miami. As I waited at least four times all people were told to duck and move back, as security blew up luggage that were suspected of being a bomb. They did not move us outside, we had to crunch down and hold our ears and hope we would survive. Me being alone and not knowing a soul that only added to my terror, but I had to get home. I was also blessed that day because my name was selected to escape and once I was called it was a running type of a scramble to get through more security checks to get to my gate. On the plane, my heart was racing and panic was overwhelming and to my surprise, the plane was not totally full. I normally request seating that is comfortable for me, that day I took the back of the plane where I could lay down across several seats along with many drinks and my legal drug supply to calm my nerves and hope to sleep the next 9 hours. Air France was not that friendly, but I handled the situation as I stated the best I could. As I have stated many times I am not a prejudiced person and never have been, however I knew by what I had just witnessed that the highjackers were of Middle Eastern decent. The last hour of my journey home, I got up to go to the bathroom; the one closest to me had a long line so I moved towards the front of the huge 747 to the next one. As I looked along the aisle I noticed two men, one looked evil (had that mean, hating look on his face with eyes without a soul) and the other was sweating profusely more than I had ever seen. Chills ran down my body with fear. When we landed, security came on the plane and removed these two men with three others immediately. I never knew why or what they knew or the reason for this action. Stepping on that plane that day with shaking panic and knowing no other options were open for getting across an ocean all by myself, never felt scared all the other times before being alone but this day was different in every way.

At last, on American soil, Miami Int’l airport, a deep breath was taken. I wanted to kiss the ground as I called my daughter at around 2:30 a.m. to let her know I was finally home safely and she was on her way. As I sit on the curb with my entire luggage, I thanked God for my living family, letting me get home safely, and protecting us all.

To this day, I blame the terrorist of what happened on 9/11, murdering the innocent, and in addition to that, the demise of my business due to the effects that it caused on our country and economy. Being a small business owner without unlimited capital and the U.S. Customs holding 3 months our merchandise (authentic high end Italian designer clothing i.e. Gucci, Versace, Prada, etc.) many months for checking something as simple as authenticity from that holding order before release of clearance was the most crucial time. Later it crippled us along with the falling dollar and the Lira going to Euros, etc. My health got worse as well, and other illnesses took possession of my body causing me not to be able to work thereafter, from severe heart disease, previous Fibromyalgia with chronic C-5-6 neck and L 3-4 back injuries, to disorders, conditions to other things on the list that continues and now cancer is in question. I have good days and bad, but I am thankful and I do feel other people’s pain. When I say you are in my thoughts or in my prayers I truly mean it.

On another post one day, I will state why I feel so strongly about fighting these damn terrorist and the war on terror, this is also personal to me.
If you wish, I would love to hear where you were that day and if it has affected your life.

P.S. SUNDAY VOTING-Late night or early Mon. a.m. Please vote if you will for more friends and new readers to possibly find me, it would be very much appreciated.

A chronology of N.O. mayor and Governor

A SAD STATE OF CORRUPT LOCAL GOVERNMENT LOOKING FOR A HAND OUT.

Politics over duty
Nagin--Mayor of N.O.
Blanco--Governor

This is a post from a reporter in Merritt Island, FL, a reporter who's been researching what went on before the storm hit.

I think all of Nagin's pomp and posturing is going to bite him hard in the near future as the lies and distortions of his interviews are coming to light.

On Friday night before the storm hit Max Mayfield of the National Hurricane Center took the unprecedented action of calling Nagin and Blanco personally to plead with them to begin MANDATORY evacuation of New Orleans and they said they'd take it under consideration. This was after the NOAA buoy 240 miles south had recorded 68' waves before it was destroyed.

President Bush spent Friday afternoon and evening in meetings with his advisors and administrators drafting all of the paperwork required for a state to request federal assistance (and not be in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act or having to enact the Insurgency Act).

Just before midnight Friday evening the President called Governor Blanco and pleaded with her to sign the request papers so the federal government and the military could legally begin mobilization and call up.

He was told that they didn't think it necessary for the federal government to be involved yet. After the President's final call to the governor she held meetings with her staff to discuss the political ramifications of bringing federal forces. It was decided that if they allowed federal assistance it would make it look as if they had failed so it was agreed upon that the feds would not be invited in.

Saturday before the storm hit the President again called Blanco and Nagin requesting they please sign the papers requesting federal assistance, that they declare the state an emergency area, and begin mandatory evacuation.

After a personal plea from the President, Mayor Nagin agreed to order an evacuation, but it would not be a full mandatory evacuation, and the governor still refused to sign the papers requesting and authorizing federal action.

In frustration the President declared the area a national disaster area before the state of Louisiana did so he could legally begin some advanced preparations. Rumor has it that the President's legal advisers were looking into the ramifications of using the insurgency act to bypass the Constitutional requirement that a state request federal aid before the federal government can move into state with troops - but that had not been done since 1906 and the Constitutionality of it was called into question to use before the disaster.

Throw in that over half the federal aid of the past decade to New Orleans for levee construction, maintenance, and repair was diverted to fund a marina and support the gambling ships.

Toss in the investigation that will look into why the emergency preparedness plan submitted to the federal government for funding and published on the city's website was never implemented and in fact may have been bogus for the purpose of gaining additional federal funding as we now learn that the organizations identified in the plan were never contacted or coordinating into any planning - though the document implies that they were.

The suffering people of New Orleans need to be asking some hard questions as do we all, but they better start with why Blanco refused to even sign the multi-state mutual aid pack activation documents until Wednesday which further delayed the legal deployment of National Guard from adjoining states.

Or maybe ask why Nagin keeps harping that the President should have commandeered 500 Greyhound busses to help him when according to his own emergency plan and documents he claimed to have over 500 busses at his disposal to use between the local school busses and the city transportation busses - but he never raised a finger to prepare them or activate them.

This is a sad time for all of us to see that a major city has all but been destroyed and thousands of people have died with hundreds of thousands more suffering, but it's certainly not a time for people to be pointing fingers and trying to find a bigger dog to blame for local corruption and incompetence. Pray to God for the survivors that they can start their lives anew as fast as possible and we learn from all the mistakes to avoid them in the future.

P.S. This was sent to me and I decided to post it! Thanks to all that responded yesterday. Obviously this issue is personal to me so that is one of the reasons I have decided to publish it.
UPDATE: I hope Everyone Reads MIKE'S COMMENT(2nd) on this post!! It is Superb beyond words - WOW!!!!! and his blog too!

So-Called -The Blame Game

Gov. Kathleen Blanco's Bureaucrats Blocked Food and Water

The Red Cross was reportedly ready to deliver food, water and other supplies to flood-ravaged refugees (hate that word- Survivors or Victims instead - my own excerpt here) who were sweltering inside New Orleans' Superdome last week - but the relief was blocked by bureaucrats who worked for Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco.
Fox News Channel's Major Garrett reported Wednesday that the Red Cross had "trucks with water, food, hygiene equipment, all sorts of things ready to go ... to the Superdome and Convention Center."
But the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security, Garrett said, "told them they could not go."
"The Red Cross tells me that Louisiana's Department of Homeland Security said, 'Look, we do not want to create a magnet for more people to come to the Superdome or Convention Center, we want to get them out,'" he explained.
"So at the same time local officials were screaming where is the food, where is the water, the Red Cross was standing by ready [and] the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security said you can't go."

P.S. In my opinion: Our President did not BLOW Hurricane Katrina out of his mouth, so get your facts together this terrible historic disaster is not his fault. Are we suppose to believe this disaster was caused by one single human being? Get real! Perhaps I am getting back to my old self...or at least eventually will hopefully! If you are well read on current events, watch news sources, getting factual info from many reliable places - you will discover the truth as it is proven. GET INFORMED PEOPLE know your facts, if you are busy with life and not paying close attention or listening to a few people's opinions and/or rumors, hello????? Know your facts if you are going to sound off DO IT intelligently.

Word Verification Feature

I wanted this feature and now it is driving me NUTS, as if I am not already.

I have to use it on my own blog(s) to reply to others and now most of my friends. The reason for this eye twister is because of the 'asses out there' that post advertisements and crap on your blog. Even with my reading glasses all the letters look backwards or confusing, sometimes it takes longer to type it in correctly than to write a comment.....well not really in my case since I am too long winded with my two cents more like a dollar's worth that buys nothing. Anyway just felt like ranting, anyone else out there have something to bitch about today, would love to hear it. Perhaps it will take my mind off of all the things that are running through my screwed up head.

A Dream File 10 Years Old

This seems a bit inappropriate with all that is happening in our world, but trying to channel my emotions away from unhappy thoughts and sights that are so hard to bear, so today I will share something that only a few people in my life has ever read. I wrote this close to ten years ago, not much has changed but I composed what I truly wanted and felt at that time. I needed to search within to know exactly what I wanted in a companion/husband/soul-mate/ or whatever it is now that I seek as I am now older. I have kept this file all these years and now I want to express it. I always told myself that I would never SETTLE for less. Nowadays as we get older, do we bend or compromise our dreams and wishes?

My Dreams and Wishes
I wish and dream for a Special Man that lightens up my life i.e. mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually. A man that I can trust impeccably, love unconditionally, cherish, admire, adore, and respect. He must shine with beauty inside and out, be trustworthy, secure, communicative, compatible, understanding, compassionate, Romantic, and Positive towards all aspects of life.
I desire a man that is willing to put forth efforts to combine his love with my love to create a bond of one. That we become each other's best friend, our favorite lovers, and desire to always be lifetime partners forever. We strive towards having a content and happy home, sharing dreams, and willing to be there for each other through times good or bad.
I would want My Love to be as excited as I would for us to be together after being apart through our daily life. Us having our standards for ourselves....and it not necessarily having to be what others expect it to be, it being what we create for us and we are open minded for understanding for each others concerns. I would want my Love to always support me...as well as me defend him for differences of opinion for outside our love...and us privately discuss our own feelings about such issues.
I dream for My Love to be active, competitive, a winner, a leader, respected among his peers...very personable and well liked. I would hope he enjoyed most activities that I like; I am willing to try his favorites with great optimism and open mind to enjoy equally. I would look forward to something new that he could show me or us learn together from ones desire to try. Loving outdoors...being physical....from riding bikes, to afternoon walks, to swimming, or participating in sports or watching special events live. For being at home to share a project, or creating a garden...loving landscapes, watching nature from a thunderstorm to a falling star and achieving life in living things. Us enjoying indoors reading, cooking together, being able to just relax with a movie...or taking a nap with each other. Us loving music, animals, the less fortunate, and fellow man & our neighbors.
A great importance to me...is sharing our private love together. I want My Love to desire equally the need to be intimate...and loving. He must enjoy receiving as much as giving love to the ultimate levels of satisfaction for a healthy love between us. Wanting to touch, cuddle, kiss passionately, love hugging....and being affectionate. In heart and soul.
We both are believers in God and the ten commandments of life. I would want us both to pray and have great faith.
I desire a friendly, stable secure home life...that is comfortable and efficient. I would want it included with a swimming pool; I have always had access or my own. I love the water, so that would be important to me. for having that part of my daily life. A yard for the living beautiful things that helps create a home. We would enjoy our children...their friends, our families, guest, and business associates for entertaining.
Financially....we would be understanding and aware of the importance’s of the value of money, saving, and planning for the long term. We would know how to conserve in some areas, and how to extend with pleasures occasionally. We would share in decisions concerning our planning for our financial future.
My love and I must enjoy being different and independent at times. We enjoy informal as well as formal events. He must be adventurous and love exploring the discovered or discovering the unexplored between us. A man that loves to travel and makes dates with me for movies, dinners and special events.
An importance for a lifetime, would be that we are for sure without a doubt that our interest are compatible to a degree that we desire without reservations that we can spend the rest of our life together. My dream is for one man only....forever...and I would strive to always bring happiness into our everlasting relationship indefinitely.
So the question is do we compromise or bend our wishes and dreams as we get older?
P.S. Today starts Voting, please take the time if you will to bring me off the bottom. (smiling) My reason for having this top blog icon is for new readers and friends not for any other selfish reason. I definitely want to be clear on my intentions, I could care less who is top or number one.

A Message to an ANONYMOUS Coward!

Excuse my language to all readers - that may be offended, I am deeply sorry. This morning I have learned one of my dearest friends have been victimized by a sick bastard and as a result had to turn off their blog and our place of enjoyment as well as personal info updates on their family's crisis at this time.

A home or meeting place to so many of us everyday to share laughs, happiness, smiles and joy. Now this blog home is turned off...An Asshole posted anonymous comments in different places as a coward to hurt a person, their family and livelyhood in the process.

We are all dealing with the ugliness of a small percentage of evil people in the streets of N.O. doing the unbelivable and witnessing life for vicims in which we would never ever think we would see on Live TV in our own country. We should be praying, donating and helping these people, but unfortunately we are reminded there are many evil people too lurking right here in this blogging world as well, not to mention everywhere on earth.

Before the end of the day or within 24 hours I TOO am considering turning my blog off. Screw this crap and hatred. I take this very personal - someone inflicting more grief brought on by 'jealous screwed up people' that have no good reason for hurting someone that has been so good to so many in our escape world of blogging.

Please to all people that I have offended by my nasty language....I am deeply sorry, but this is how I feel at this time and I can express on my own damn blog exactly what I want to. You are too much of a coward to tell us who you are, but before the day is out I am sure blogger.com and other sources can track you down. I am furious by this!
