Reuters Busted by US Blogs on Picture Fraud

Rueters admits now that photo(s) were altered about Qana, Lebanon. I am late reporting this, every blogger we know have already published this info, however it still needs to be posted. Just how many lies are out there that sparked international demonstrations over Qana? We learned this week that casualties were 28 instead of 52, and it is very fishy about the tape of rescue workers (AP stood behind 56 deaths and Lebanon photos) bringing dead children out of the collasped buildings wearing different outfits and backgrounds with each photo. Don't forget the 8 hour time span between the bomb hitting and it being reported. More below about Reuters.......Now The Jawa Report exposes another fake photo from Reuters. UPDATE below where Charles at Little Green Footballs have rec'd death threats.

Via Ynetnews: Reuters admits altering Beirut photo

Reuters withdraws photograph of Beirut after Air Force attack after US blogs, photographers point out 'blatant evidence of manipulation.' Reuters' head of PR says in response, 'Reuters has suspended photographer until investigations are completed into changes made to photograph.' Photographer who sent altered image is same Reuters photographer behind many of images from Qana, which have also been subject of suspicions for being staged

A Reuters photograph of smoke rising from buildings in Beirut has been withdrawn after coming under attack by American web logs. The blogs accused Reuters of distorting the photograph to include more smoke and damage.

The photograph showed two very heavy plumes of black smoke billowing from buildings in Beirut after an Air Force attack on the Lebanese capital. Reuters has since withdrawn the photograph from its website, along a message admitting that the image was distorted, and an apology to editors.

Reuters withdraws doctored image
In the message, Reuters said that "photo editing software was improperly used on this image. A corrected version will immediately follow this advisory. We are sorry for any inconvience."

Earlier, Charles Johnson, of the Little Green Footballs blog , which has exposed a previous attempt at fraud by a major American news corporation, wrote : "This Reuters photograph shows blatant evidence of manipulation. Notice the repeating patterns in the smoke; this is almost certainly caused by using the Photoshop “clone” tool to add more smoke to the image."
Johnson added: "Smoke simply does not contain repeating symmetrical patterns like this, and you can see the repetition in both plumes of smoke. There’s really no question about it." [read more]

Both Reuters and the AP are two trusted agencies that we all depend on for news reporting, how many more photos have been doctored..... is what many are asking. I listened last night to Matt Drudge and they discussed this, and I find it very disturbing. Yesterday, I noticed everyone reporting on this at Memeorandum...

**UPDATE** I just now.... heard on Rush's Radio Show....that Charles at Little Green Footballs have rec'd DEATH THREATS. (12:10 p.m.) Note: Today headlines on Rush Limbaugh's home page. Discussions also..... on video tape showing a child (very much alive) crawling out of the arms of a rescue worker that day as well.

Hezbollah staged this whole thing as I reported on last week.....there is not a doubt in my mind.

Via Ynetnews: Reuters employee issues 'Zionist pig' death threat
Worker suspended after telling American blogger: 'I look forward to day when you pigs get your throats cut' Yaakov Lappin
Real Nice huh?
A Reuters employee has been suspended after sending a death threat to an American blogger.

The message, sent from a Reuters internet account, read: "I look forward to the day when you pigs get your throats cut."

It was sent to Charles Johnson, owner of the Little Green Footballs (LGF) weblog, a popular site which often backs Israel and highlights jihadist terrorist activities. In the threat, the Reuters staff member, who has not been named, left his email address as "zionistpig" at hotmail.com.

Reporting the message to his readers, Johnson wrote on his website: "This particular death threat is a bit different from the run of the mill hate mail we get around here, because an IP lookup on the sender reveals that he/she/it was using an account at none other than Reuters News."

Speaking to Ynetnews, Johnson said: "I was surprised to receive a threat from a Reuters IP, but only because it was so careless of this person to use a traceable work account to do it."

He added: "I think it's more than fair to say that Reuters has a big problem." [read more]
UPDATE: Reuters Foundation Alert: Reuters withdraws all photos by Lebanese freelance
LONDON, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Reuters withdrew all 920 photographs by a freelance Lebanese photographer from its database on Monday after an urgent review of his work showed he had altered two images from the conflict between Israel and the armed group Hizbollah.

Hot Air has a nice round-up of all the new updates....also mentioned Fox News and Rush Limbaugh all over this.

Michelle Malkin reports: ***update 12:12pm Eastern...Rush Limbaugh right now: "Reuters ought to be investigated. They should investigate themselves...The second doctored photo is a 'doozy'...Once again, as in the Dan Rather case, it was the blogosphere that brought this to light...It's devastating, folks...this is the tip of the iceberg, not just Reuters..."
